Understanding QSEHRA (Single)

What is QSEHRA?

QSEHRA is a benefit that allows employers to reimburse employees for their individual health insurance premiums and out-of-pocket medical expenses. This reimbursement is tax-free for both the employer and employees, making it a valuable and cost-effective health benefit.

Benefits for Qualified Employees

Annual Reimbursement Limit: $5,500

This amount should cover the entire cost of your health insurance premiums for the year. This benefit is only available for single coverage and does not extend to family coverage.

How It Works

  1. Choose Your Plan:
    • You can select an individual health insurance plan that fits your needs from the Get Covered NJ marketplace or other approved marketplaces.
  2. Reimbursement Process:
    • Submit your health insurance premiums and eligible medical expenses for reimbursement.
    • You will be reimbursed up to the annual limit of $5,500.

To make the process as smooth as possible, we will arrange for you to speak with a representative from Get Covered NJ or other approved marketplaces during your onboarding. This consultation will help you understand your options and choose the best plan for your needs.

1. What expenses are eligible for reimbursement?

  • Eligible expenses include individual health insurance premiums and qualified out-of-pocket medical expenses such as co-pays, deductibles, and prescription costs.

2. How do I submit my expenses for reimbursement?

  • Detailed instructions and support for submitting your expenses will be provided during your onboarding.

3. What if my health insurance premiums are less than $5,500?

  • If your premiums are less than $5,500, you can use the remaining amount for eligible out-of-pocket medical expenses.

4. Can I use this benefit for family coverage?

  • This benefit for this particular job level is currently only available for single coverage.
  • Family coverage is not included in the this particular plan.

  • Total Days: 15 days per year
    • Usage: Employees can use PTO for vacation, personal time, or any other reason except for sick leave.
    • Accrual: PTO accrues monthly and up to 10 days can be carried over to the next year. Carryover:
  • Sick Leave:
    • Total Days: 5 days per year
    • Usage: Employees can use sick leave for their own illness, medical appointments, or to care for an immediate family member who is ill.
    • Accrual & Carryover: Sick leave accrues monthly and can be carried over year-to-year.
  • Paid Holidays:
    • Total Days: 8 days per year
    • Included Holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day.

Policy Details

  • Requesting PTO: Employees must request PTO in advance, with a minimum notice period of 2 weeks.
  • Using Sick Leave: Employees should notify their supervisor as soon as possible when taking sick leave.
  • Documentation: For extended sick leave (more than 3 consecutive days), physician documentation may be required.
  • Payout on Termination: Upon termination of employment, the payout of unused PTO (Paid Time Off) is at the discretion of supervisors and the Human Resources department. Unused sick leave is not paid out, in alignment with our company policy and as permitted by New Jersey state law. The terms of employment and any disputes are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey. Please note, for employees residing outside of New Jersey, including Arizona, Connecticut, New York, Texas, and California, the company is registered to conduct business in compliance with state regulations.
